Dr. Tanya Merwiak

Dr. Tanya Merwiak is happy to practise optometry in her hometown of Ottawa. She completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Guelph in 2014 and her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 2018. During her training she volunteered on an eye-care mission in Ecuador and interned at a Veterans Affairs hospital in Tallahassee, Florida, where she deepened her knowledge of ocular disease.

Dr. Merwiak is committed to creating a comfortable experience where patients feel cared for, their concerns are heard, and their vision is optimized. She believes in a proactive approach to eye care — empowering patients through education and preventative strategies that support both their vision and overall health — and has advanced training in dry eye and scleral contact lenses.

Dr. Merwiak is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists, the Canadian Association of Optometrists, and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. Outside the clinic, she enjoys life as a mother, exploring the outdoors, relaxing at the cottage, swimming, reading, and snowboarding.
