What lenses do you need?
Prior to prescribing contact lenses, your optometrist will determine what level of vision correction you require by measuring how the eyes focus with a series of different lenses. Your optometrist will also measure the curvature of the front of your eye to ensure contact lenses are fitted properly.
If you are a contact lens wearer, wear your lenses to your appointment. If you are a new patient, it is helpful to have information about your current lenses. If your eyes are red or painful, do not wear your lenses and book an appointment right away.
Am I a good fit for contacts?
Your optometrist works with you to determine whether contact lenses or glasses are best for your lifestyle. If you suffer from certain conditions such as dry eye or allergies, glasses may be the most comfortable solution. Contact lenses are available in soft or rigid gas-permeable form. Specialized lenses including bifocal and rigid gas permeable options are also available for patients with special eye conditions.
