Dr. Kristine MacDiarmid

Dr. Kristine MacDiarmid is originally from Miramichi, New Brunswick, where she began her science studies at the University of New Brunswick before earning her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo in 1993. After several years practising in New Brunswick, she moved to Ottawa and joined the Merivale team in 1996, and has now cared for Ottawa patients for over three decades.

Dr. MacDiarmid loves helping people in her community and enjoys the daily challenge of solving her patients' visual problems. By combining decades of clinical experience and ongoing education with advanced lens technology in glasses and contact lenses, she turns complex prescription needs into effortless vision. She has completed a 100-hour training program in the pharmaceutical treatment of eye disease and holds the Eye Recommend Mastering Myopia certificate.

Dr. MacDiarmid is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists, the Canadian Association of Optometrists, and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. She has travelled to Jamaica to provide eye exams for people without access to health care. Outside the clinic, she enjoys her book club, cooking, travelling, hiking, many sports, and spending quality time with her family.
