At Wellington Vision Care, seeing clearly shouldn't just apply to your eyesight; it should also extend to how you view and support your community.

At Wellington Vision Care, seeing clearly shouldn't just apply to your eyesight; it should also extend to how you view and support your community.

That's why, this July and August, we're proud to team up once again with our friends at Merivale Vision Care for a very special initiative that combines vision care with giving back.

For every pair of glasses sold at either of our locations this summer, we will donate $10 to the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa

This donation goes directly toward purchasing school supplies and filling backpacks for kids in need right here in our community.

A Cause That's Close to Our Hearts

The transition back to school can be exciting, full of fresh starts and new opportunities, but for many families, it can also be stressful. Backpacks, notebooks, pencils, lunchboxes—it all adds up. For children in underserved communities, these basic supplies are not always guaranteed.

That's where the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa comes in. Their Back-to-School Backpack Program helps ensure that every child enters the school year with the tools they need to succeed.

And this summer, when you purchase a pair of prescription glasses or sunglasses from Wellington Vision Care, you're helping us support this incredible initiative.

Last Year's Impact: 350+ Backpacks Filled!

Thanks to your generosity and participation last summer, we filled over 350 backpacks for the Boys and Girls Club. That's 350 kids who entered the classroom in September feeling confident, equipped, and supported.

That number represents more than supplies; it represents a belief in their potential. And this year, we're aiming to do even more.

How It Works

It's simple:

For every pair of glasses sold in July and August, we donate $10. That $10 goes directly to the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa to help purchase the school supplies that fill each backpack, including pencils and paper, calculators, water bottles, and binders.

Whether you're booking an eye exam, picking up a new pair of stylish frames, or upgrading to prescription sunglasses, your purchase contributes to something bigger.

Why Backpacks Matter

To some, a backpack might seem like a small thing. But to a child, it can mean the world. A new backpack filled with supplies says:

  • "You are prepared."
  • "You are supported."
  • "You are seen."

When kids start the school year with everything they need, they're more likely to stay engaged in class, feel confident among their peers, and embrace learning with excitement. This boost goes beyond the first school day and can positively impact their academic year.

Vision Care That Gives Back

At Wellington Vision Care, we're more than just your local optometry clinic. We're part of a broader community and take that responsibility seriously. We want our patients to feel good about how they see the world and how they help shape it.

When you shop with us this summer, you're not just investing in your eye health. You're also helping a child start the school year on the right foot. It's a purchase you can feel proud of.

A Team Effort with MVC

We're thrilled to partner again with Merivale Vision Care for this meaningful cause. We can expand our reach and maximize our impact by working together across both locations.

Our shared goal? To fill even more backpacks than last year and ensure that every dollar donated goes directly to the kids who need it most.

This partnership reflects our shared values of compassion, community, and care, and it shows what's possible when local businesses and customers come together to create change.

How You Can Get Involved

Ready to make a difference? It's as easy as visiting our clinic!

  1. Book an eye exam – Whether it's been a while or you're due for a check-up, now's the perfect time.
  2. Browse our frames – We carry a wide selection of styles for adults and kids, from classic to trendy.
  3. Buy a pair – Every glasses or sunglasses purchased = $10 donated. It's that simple.

You can also help by spreading the word. Tell your friends and family, share this post on social media, or tag us on Instagram and Facebook when you pick up your new pair!

Let's Break Our Record

We aim to fill even more than 350 backpacks this year, and with your help, we believe we can. Every purchase makes a difference. Every backpack filled helps a child feel confident, capable, and cared for.

Whether you're a longtime patient or visiting us for the first time, your support helps turn a simple transaction into something truly powerful.

Thank You for Seeing the Bigger Picture
