Oh-Woah! We’re halfway there…to our goal of 350 Backpacks for the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa!
During the months of July and August we are committing $10 from every pair of glasses purchased to donate to The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, to help kids at risk with back-to-school preparation.

Did you know that the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa has more than 100,000 visits per year, and has been helping at-risk youth and children across Ottawa for almost 100 years? The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa provides a safe space and free access to life-changing programs for thousands of children and youth during the most vulnerable hours of the day – after school and on weekends.
These hours can either represent an opportunity to learn and grow, or they can be a time of risk to youth and children’s health and safety. These programs, which are based on education, physical activity, healthy lifestyle, leadership, and social skills are critical to the well-being of many young people! Our young Ottawa citizens truly are our future, so it only makes sense to invest in them in any way we can. During the months of July and August we are committing $10 from every pair of glasses purchased to donate to The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, to help kids at risk with back-to-school preparation.
Our goal is a lofty $12000 to put towards 350 backpacks filled with school supplies for youth in need for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. Last year we provided 250 backpacks filled to the brim. Each year the need for these essential supplies increases, and we are pleased to say that we are halfway to the $12000 and 350 backpack goal! Thank you so much if you purchased your glasses during July and the beginning of August. You have directly impacted local youths in a positive way for this coming September.
Each youth will receive a reusable water bottle, lunch box, and a backpack stuffed to the max with school supplies like paper, graph paper, calculators, math sets, and much more. On the 3rd weekend in August, the Merivale Vision Care team will come together to assemble the backpacks and then deliver them to the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa. We hope that all the youths we help have a wonderful and safe return to school and an exceptional year!
