Let’s Celebrate International Women’s Day Together!

March is here and with it comes one of our absolute favourite days of the year, International Women’s Day! At Merivale Vision Care, International Women’s Day is super important to us. We celebrate it in a major way every single year without a doubt. As a women-led small local business, we feel it is absolutely critical to support women both in business and in our community.

When we celebrate International Women’s Day, we wear purple, have fun, and make sure that we are giving back to our community. Tomorrow, Tuesday March 8^th, is our big celebration! We will be donating $25 for every pair of glasses or sunglasses sold tomorrow to our amazing friends at the Zonta Club of Ottawa who is the driving forces in advocating and supporting women.

The Zonta Club of Ottawa is an organization whose mission is to empower women through service and advocacy. Zonta works hard to elevate the status of women both locally and internationally, and they have been in the service of doing so for 92 years! Zonta monitors laws and policies and their impact on women, as well as participates in hearings and public meetings with local politicians and administrators to ensure the consideration of women’s interests. Zonta also hosts speakers and panels to raise awareness about issues affecting women at the local level. The Club also recognizes community service and provides bursaries and awards to promising young women in a variety of fields of study.
